Back country skiing is under the main supervision of David, the grandson of Pastor Bernard Gentil, who introduced cross country skiing in the Queyras in 1969.

Dates of the sessions

For the coming winter, sessions will be organised every week fom the 18th of Dcember 2011 providing there are at least 4 people interested.   

Description of the training session:

5 days of skiing on virgin snow, discovering a different  area every day , exploring  preserved scenery in the most beautiful sites of the Regional Nature Parc of Queyras (ancient summer shepherd huts of Clapeyto, valley of the Blanche stream or Mount Viso Belvedere ...).

On Sunday afternoon, some exercising and technique training, to check physical condition. Altogether five days and a half activities.

Saturday morning, free skiing, (skiing equipment can be borrowed free), around the resort of Molines-Saint Véran.

The equipment is light and adapted to telemark (skis with metal borders and shoes holding the ankles ).

Telemark, born in Norway in the last century, is a technique both elegant and effective for turning with skis that leaves the heel free.

Training:

High mountain guide or northern ski trainer.

Public concerned:

From juniors to active seniors,  individually, with your family or with a group.

Standard:

Medium to confirmed practitioners.

Personal equipment:

• Warm clothes : thermal tights,  "Gore tex" pants or similar (waterproof), fleece jacket and  "gore tex"type waterproof vest, gloves, bonnet, warm socks.
• Sun glasses and sun block.
• Gaiters
• Thermos and gourd for water.
  
• A backpack containing around 30 litres.

 2011/2012 Rates (price per persn):

• A day's outing : 56 €

All included stay with accomodation in the hostel or the hôtel**:

• Hostel (rooms for de 3, 4 ou 6 person) : 620 €
• Hôtel (per person, 2 people sharing): 725 € (shower), 770 € (bath or shower, WC)
• Hôtel single room : 790 € (shower), 810 € (shower, WC)
• Hôtel room for 3/4 people : de 725 € à 740 € (bath or shower, WC)
  

The prices include :

• Full board from Sunday morning breakfast to Saturday 2PM
  
• A guide for 5 days backcountry skiing + half a day of cross country skiing
  
• The lending of adapted skiing equipment.
  
• Access to the finnish sauna.
  

The prices do Not include :

• The card ANCEF (compulsary) costing 15,50 € (16,50 € with annual insurance)
• lThe hotel Tax (0,50 to 0,75 € /night/pers.)
